I'm sorry you bought a Ford, a Taurus at that! LOL I thought you were looking for a truck to haul stuff with?
The Garrett T28 that was on the car **** the bed. It was letting a good amount of oil into the downpipe making for a smoky situation that was gradually getting worse.

New turbo is a eBay special, T2871. Its a little larger, and might spool a little later than the Garrett did, but at least if this one dies on my its only $300 to replace compared to $1000.

Here'* pictures with the 2 side by side.

Ideally I would liked to have picked up another Envoy or a Sierra, but my price range was too low. I went to see a '00 Chevy Blazer right before I saw the Taurus, but the lady didnt have the title so I was turned off by that. Once I saw that the Taurus was in pretty good shape and seemed to run decent, I made an offer and it just happened. The trunk is big enough to haul most parts I deal with, so it should work out ok. I hope. lol

Megasquirt is a build it yourself, stand alone engine management computer. It can be used as a piggy-back for your stock ECM though if you just want to add fuel.
