Default New from Wisconsin - Brew City!

I actually joined a while back b/c I had an issue with my 1994 bonneville SE. The site was so informative I was able to correct my issue and never had to look back. I also am a huge Firebird fan and belong to several forums for the F-body. it'* got an LT1 383 stroker motor in it. - ridiculously fast. I won't go into that here. I bought my 1994 bonneville as a A to B car 4 years ago. Got it from the back lot of a dealership, for $600. - had 220k on the clock, I drove it for 4 years and JUST sold it to my brother for $500 (it is his first car) - the '94 now has 284,000 miles on it, 65,000 of which I put on myself. I had only little maintenance that I had to do to the car other than oil changes of course. It had the typical tranny cooler line leak, a bad wheel bearing, a TPS sensor that went bad, some small oil leaks and a coolant leak, I just got crazy one day and replace about every gasket water and oil, in the top half of the motor, which pretty much fixed most of that. I replaced a rotted brake line, and a thermostat. Oh, one of the wires on the fuel pump harness had been rubbing on the chassis for some time, and wore through. Not until AFTER i changed the fuel pump and the car still did not start, that I noticed the broken wire- that was fun. the HVAC motor doesn't run sometimes, you have to jiggle the weather pack connected to it, under the hood and then it starts working again, the passenger side power window sometimes doesn't go back up after you put it down, usually punching the door panel while holding the power window switch in the up position takes care of the problem. It definitely had a personality! I hope my brother gets good use out of the car. I tried to tell him most of the quirks about it. I really hope he makes it last to 300k.

My NEW car is an '01 Bonneville. it'* got 130k on it. I just got it a week ago, it has some of the common problems listed in the tech section. I'm dealing with most of them this week, bad WSS - TCS/ABS light, bad gas cap P0440 yay - SES light cuz of that. Gas gauge is all over the place, going to do the youtube guy'* fix for $40! Oil pressure is pegged at 120, going to change the sending unit tomorrow probably, I don't know if it leaks water yet b/c it hasn't rained here since I bought it. It'* got the intermediate shaft clunk coming from the steering column. The hood is bubbled, and also bubbling under the gas door. There is a coolant leak coming from the thermostat housing, most likely some idiot didn't replace the gasket or something when the thermo was last changed. the couple things I can't figure out is: when you launch hard, and the car does a high RPM 1st-2nd shift, there is a bad shudder. I also notice a slight shudder when at highway speeds with foot barely on the pedal, and then you let off the gas to coast. I ALSO notice a slight shudder when the shifter is moved from park into a gear, - I'm guessing I've got a bad motor mount or something. I'm going to check into it.

I know it seems like i listed a TON of stuff wrong with the car, most of it i think i can fix in a weekend, for under $300. I dont know if it has the intake manifold coolant leak, time will tell with that one. I love these cars, I mainly love the comfort of their drive and the longevity of the 3.8L. I would recommend one to anybody! I got this car for $3000, and I think it was a steal!.

Sounds like your going to have a full weekend. But the car will be the better for it. Most of your problems should be in the tech info area.

Welcome to the BonnevilleForum,...... Again! LOL. We have an Admins and a Retired Mod up your way. I'm sure they'll chime in. Danthurs my "fellow Admins" loves to meet Bonne people as his garage is a Mecca for the "tired and weary" of the Pontiac persuasion. Hope you find the place friendly and helpful. We've made quite the changes over the last year.
