hi, just would like to make a brief intro to everyone, im new to the forum'* and infact new to pontiac'*. in 7 years of driving ive had all oldsmobiles my last being a 1996 cut supreme RIP 192,300 miles. Anyways I now have a 1999 SE and would like some insight on these cars like trouble spots, good mods for performance etc... thanks for your help, its greatly appreciated.

As for trouble spots, look in the TechInfo and read the Stickies in the 92-99 section. In a nut shell, watch your coolant levels. Loosing coolant is a sign of a failing upper intake manifold and failing lower intake gaskets. Otherwise, very reliable cars! 101K on mine and counting...

Yea while most guys my age (early 20'*) fell victim to the "import craze" i found a way to stay loyal to Olds and GM. in regards to performance, i like to do my own custom intake and exhaust work but for down the road id like some idea of who sells performance parts for these cars. I know of primarily Intense and of course SLP being that they are right in my back yard. Also if anyone has a lowered bonneville id like to hear from them as well. Is there any difference in powertrains between bonneville and grand prix. thanks for the help.

The GP and the Bonneville run off the same engine and tranmission, the NA version of the GP (SE, GT) are rated at 200 hp due to the U-bend as opposed to the 205 in the NA Series 2 Bonneville

The GTP is faster then the Bonneville SSEi, stock for stock the GTP is lighter, making it faster.
