I would strongly suggest picking up a 97+ SSEi if you really want a supercharged engine. Doing a top swap will run you between $500 and $1000, plus you will need a lot of tuning, and that'* hard with a OBD1 engine. You could be pushing $2000 be the time your done. Pick up a newer L67 and go from there.

Also, welcome to the forum. I'm sure you will learn a lot, and also be a great help here.

At that price that will not break the bank by any means!!! But, a 97+ SSEi is exactly what I am looking for!! I really prefer the Bonnie style to the Grand Prix GTP.

Mike...this is the list of benefits for being a supporter! In short, yes you do get decals. Drop an email to Venom if you have not yet received your decals.

You can pick up a 97 for a good price. The SSEi will have more room inside and have a better smoother ride, but you pay for that in speed. The GP is a bit faster in a quarter mile. You can get them real close with a little work. If you can find a 98 or better you will be better off, the 97 has a few small issues, but nothing major. Once your in to the 2000s the price jumps. As for working on the engine, 97-99 is easier, more room. Less room on the 2000+, and no room at all on the W bodys.

Other then intake mani. gasket problems what else are there with the '97'* motor?

The heads have issues with micro cracks, and the 4t65e-hd transmission has a diff that is different from other years. So if you have a problem with the diff you need to change the output shaft and diff cover along with the diff. Neither of them is a real issue if your handy with a wrench.

Is it due to the increase in HP over the years and the differential not being able to lay the power down?

They changed the clip that holds it to the output shaft. So the splines are also different.
