Default New guy with a 94 SSEi

Hi all!
Been reading this forum and am impressed with the knowledge here.

I just picked up a super clean 94 SSEi with 150,000 miles.
First thing I did was change oil, and all fluids, air cleaner and wipers.
This car has been highly maintained with a ton of receipts. There has never been a major repair on drive train.
This car has also not been wrecked.
Everything is stock and the only 2 items not working are the radio controls on the steering wheel and the power antenna does not go up and down.
It is black with a tan leather interior.

This car is a blast to drive! I want to go step by step and tune it up. With each tune up I want to increase performance. With that said, I should have a ton of questions.

Next month'* projects include having the antenna fixed, the fuel filter replaced, the fuel system checked for proper PSI, and the SC oil changed. I also have a pulley chirp that goes away after the engine heats up or is under load. Possibly a tensioner.

I am wondering, if performance increases does gas mileage decrease? I am currently averaging 22 mpg. I would like to see that climb if possible after tunes. This is a daily driver that sees about 350 miles per week.

Thanks, Rich

Not at all. In fact, you can actually do a lot of mods that will HELP fuel economy, like intake, porting and exhaust work.
