Default New Guy with a 00 SSEi wants Mods ....

I have ridden crotch rockets for years now but with age comes wisdom. I sold them and wanted a fast car yet something I could carry the family in if needed. So this 00' SSEi fell in my lap. I got it dirt cheap and all it needed was a good cleaning. She is pretty now but it needs some more ponies. I just helped a buddy put a cold air system and a cat back system on his 05 Mustang Friday. Then this Sat. we had an appt. to get our windows tinted so we headed to Grand Rapids,MI and hit some back roads on the way. He has V6 4.0 with the new mods and mine is stock other than the cheap knock off K&N air filter mounted in place of the big bulky air box.
I WHOOPED HIS AZZZZZZZZZ BAD. THESE ARE SOME FAST AZZZZ SLEEPERS, LET ME TELL YOU !!!!
After that little run I want to up the game and add some mods, any suggestions? :?: I have read alot about INTENSE and plan to go check out their website. What should I do and what should I avoid? Has anyone put on an exhaust system yet that sounded good?
Let me know where to start without doing major motor work please?
Car runs great and just had a tune up. 120,000 miles on her. Thanks, Carnegie01

Ah.....another owner who has discovered that a four door family sedan can be fun, as well as practical! Welcome to BC...you have definitely found the right place for performance improvements.

Click on the "Techinfo" section (top left corner of the BC screen) for the standard dissertation on performance. There is a lot you can do without cracking the motor open, and INTENSE is a great place. But to start, make sure you have done all tune-up work to get the car running top notch. You may also need a good scan tool if you plan on doing extensive mods as there is such a thing as modding too far without proper supporting mods and/or possible tuning. We want you to mod and have fun modding, but we don't want to see you hurt the motor while doing it. Check out the "Performance and Brainstorming" as well as the "Forced Induction" sections for more answers than you can imagine.

As far as exhaust, everyone has their own personal tastes in what sounds good. There are many sound clips and video clips of different exhaust set-ups on the club, but from my experience, you really need to hear them in person, rather than through a sound clip, to hear the true exhaust notes. Best bet is to get yourself to a Booneville meet to hopefully hear some of the different set-ups in person.

Welcome to BonnevilleClub

Just to let you know, we are a VERY bad influence on anyone that wants to mod.....

We have quite a few members here in Michigan, and the list seems to grow every week If you are interested, check out the link in my sig, we are planning a meet next month.

Definatly check out http://intense-racing.com/ They are the place to go. There are others, but Intense seems to be the standout place for Bonnevilles. Check out the Links section for more

Welcome to the Club! If you've got the mod bug, INTENSE is the place to go.

BTW, street-racing stories are strictly verboten. I think you're OK with that little bit above, just something to remember.

Anyway, usual starter mods are Lower thermostats, fenderwell intake, smaller pulley, PCM, etc...

Since you've got all the mod advice you need I'll just leave it at "Welcome to the Club!"

welcome,

since everybody is saying go intense I gotta equal the bias and say http://zzperformance.com sells stuff for your car too along with a few others (links section at the top). However INTENSE has the best quality intake setup of any of them in my opinon. pulleys are the same. Headers is a matter of personal preference. INTENSE seems to have more expereince with bonnevilles when it comes to the PCM.
