Hi All

I just bought a one owner 1999 SSEI with 93000 on it. I drove up North in Michigan this past weekend and on the way home I had a "lake" slashing around both in front and in back. It had rained all weekend but I did not have anything until about halfway home. I also went through a carwash when I was up there, did'nt have any soret of problem then either. When I got home I shopvac'd all the water out and decided to check my trunk and it was also wet. Wheel well had about 4 inches of sudsy water I am guessing from the car wash.
Half way home after we noticed the water the air bag light came on. Monday I was driving to work and my drivers side bag went off. Needless to say it almost had to turn around to change my shorts.
A mechanic friend told me that there is a sensor under the seat for the airbags and it obviously got wet.I dont want to replace the bag until I can figure out where the water came from. ANY SUGESTIONS?

First, welcome to the club.

Sorry to here your having problems with your new car. I've heard of some people having trunk leaks from the spoiler where it mounts to the trunk lid. Also, check the stripping around the trunk to see if it'* damaged. Let'* start there and see what we find.

I would have had to change.

Another common area is the door seals. They shrink and allow large gaps over time. Most folks either leave a gap at the bottom or add some seal from a JY seal they cut to fit in the gap.

Welcome to the Club Chris and sorry to hear about the water. It even strikes the newer ones, including mine. I pulled the trunk lid rubber loose putting in the subwoofer amp and had the spare tire well fill up with water.

After I fix this water issue, I am thinking about a Kand N air filter. I had put one in my 1998 Chevy with a 454 and it helped millage .

also look at replacing the plugs... it helped on my car...
