Hi Everyone
Yes, that was a very nice car. I paid $800 for it, not running. It has about 125K on it when I bought it. The harmonic balancer went out on it and pretty much destroyed all the accessories since the woman kept driving it, until the bearing went out in the snout of the */c. It had been parked under a big cottonwood tree for about 5 years when I bought it. Replaced the accessories, new balancer, rebuilt */c and a nice thorough cleaning in and out and I had myself a nice driver. I had it about a year when it was stolen.
The sheriff said one of two things happened, it was either a gang initiation activity, or they stole it, moved drugs with it, and then burned it to cover up any evidence. There is a 'community' about 10 miles east of where I live that is nothing but gangs, meth labs, etc., and unfortunately it spilled over into my neighborhood. We have never had much crime here to speak of, and still don't. I guess I was just the unfortunate one.
The nice examples of Oldsmobiles are drying up I fear, and I may have to switch marques. I like Bonnevilles too so that may be my next option, especially if I can find a */c model. They seem to be more plentiful than */c Oldsmobiles.
