Default Hey everyone! I'm new here

Hey everyone,

I posted a couple of days ago but haven't heard anything back regarding the purchase of a 1992 Bonneville SE. I bought it this morning. This will be my younger sisters first car. I have a lot of service records for the car. In 2010, they upgraded and replaced the AC system, fuel pump, transmission filter, engine assembly, speakers, and tires.

The only thing that I think it may need is a new starter because you can hear when it is starting that it is a little sluggish. Battery is fine. I had a mechanic look at it this morning... he suspects starter as well. I also don't think that the temperature is registering as it should on the gauge as it is hovering in the lower cool side. Besides that it seems to be a good car! Runs and shifts smooth.

Anything I need to watch out for on this vehicle? Look forward to more reading on the forum. Thanks!

Nick

Default thanks

Yes it seems to be in good shape. It has 160,900 miles. They also replaced the fuel pump.... I don't have the records in front of me but this is all I can remember off the top of my head.

I will post some pics when I get a chance (hopefully this weekend)

Thanks,

Nick

Smile Alright I have the records... input would be appreciated

Hey everyone,

Well I got the service records here in front of me. I wanted to let you know what the car has had done and see if you know of any other preventative/routine maintenance that I should consider. again, it'* a 92 w/ 160,900

New headliner March 2010 $235

March 2010 4 toyo tires, alignment, conversion of a/c system to r134, new ac compressor assembly, replace transmission filter/gasket, new serpentine belt
Total bill: $1773

July 2010 new fuel filter, timing chain, timing cover gasket, crankshaft position sensor, fog lamp replaced, fuel pump, Total bill: $1051

October 2010 Engine assembly total bill: $1011

Paint job in 2010 $650

4 new speakers and radio $355

Stanley steamer carpet cleaning $104

Total maintenance bills in 2010: $4589

I paid $2,000.... I think I got a decent deal even though the Blue Book on these are only around $1500.

sounds like you got a good solid car. as far as the temp, none of the gm gauges are real accurate.they usually are pretty consistent though. i would check the warmed up temp with a ir gun it should be about 195. if it is thats just what the gauge is going to read. if its moving around alot or not the right temp the thermostat needs changed. like mentined before its cheap enough to be preventative maint. i would do hoses while you have it apart

Thanks for the replies. I posted pictures today in the picture section. I'll have to get some of it clean at some point. It'* not perfect but I'm real impressed.... the interior things are so so in general but it seems to run like a top.
