I don't think its the module. Its a coffee can looking thing with a sensor on top of it right next to the air filter. There are two lines coming from it, they don't feel cracked. One line has a rub mark on it but its not all the way through. I feel like it almost has to be a vacuum line somewhere. Just can't find it. Q

thats the evap canister and the thing on top is the vent solenoid. try running the engine and spray carb cleaner and listen for the engine to change.

Would the solenoid be the part that says 'purge' on it?

im not sure how it was in 95 because i think it changed, but functionally the purge solenoid is what connects to the throttle body and canister, and when the pcm calls for it takes the fuel vapor and lets it in the throttle body. if something is wrong with the lines or the purge solenoid it will act like it is a vacuum leak. i had to replace all those lines on mine because they were dry rotted and didnt seal right

Ok that all makes sense. But, spraying it, and the lines with carb cleaner didn't change the way the engine ran. So if its not the lines its gotta be the solenoid, right? Work on the car has been halted because of the snow and cold, but I'm still frantically brainstorming. Thanks for your helpful feedback, I really appreciate it.

if you want to find out if thats your issue cap the line before it goes into the purge valve. if the engine is good after there is something wrong with the valve or the line leaks there

I cleaned the coil pack connections up and greased everything back up. Now car is throwing check engine light again right away. We checked the firing order several times and everything is good. I have no idea what I could have done wrong. Uggh

that connector is probably bad, or the wires that go toward the block are rubbing on metal. try taking it off and inspect for loose pins or corroded contacts

I pulled every coil pack off and cleaned the connections underneath and the posts to the wires. With the coil packs off the plate underneath came off and I cleaned that up too. I used new dielectric grease on all connections and posts and even in the wiring harness going to the contol module.

Are you referring to something else? I'm a little lost
