Default Windows, fan on dash not working.

Bought a preprogrammed bcm for my 99 Yukon window control still does not work. Does it have to be programmed to my specific vehicle?

Why did you get a BCM? It has nothing to do with windows....

Fan on Dash? Are you talking bout the blower motor?

Repair shop wanted to replace, said short indicated in it. Had a bad circuit. Yes I mean the blower fan. Trying to find out why window controls and blower motor quit working.

"Short indicated in it?"

That means absolutely nothing to me.......Do they have some triggered "B" (body) codes that are set, or is there no communication with the module? What were the problems the BCM caused, because it has nothing to do with the fan or windows....

Looking at the blower motor and window schematics, the BCM has nothing to do with either one......

As far as the blower motor goes, turn the system on, change each fan speed, and take the palm of your hand, and hit the housing.....if the fan starts to work, you need a motor(there is a dead spot)......

otherwise you start your investigation at the resistor block....from there you go to the high speed relay.......and if power is coming out of the relay to the blower motor and you have a good ground circuit, then you need a new blower motor....

Easy way to check blower motor is to remove harness from motor, and attach a test light, not a voltmeter, and with system on, start at low speed and then increase to high....test light should get progressively brighter....if it does, need blower motor, if it doesn't light, the like I said, the ground circuit for the motor, the relay and the resistor block circuits have to be checked....

As for the windows, if none work, then concentrate on the driver'* door.....make sure you have power into the switch from the circuit breaker, and a good ground circuit .....if you have both, then jumper them to the circuit for the driver'* window circuit, to manually operate the window...if it works, you need a master switch....

Thank you for the information. They did not go into specifics on reasons BCM showed a short, wanted a $1000 to replace. Again thank you.
