No Start Issue- 07 Sierra
I can’t afford to have it towed to a dealer because the closest dealer is about 40 miles away. Tow truck would charge $200-$250 just to tow it there. Then the dealer would charge $100-$150 just to diagnose it. That’* about $350 I don’t have just for someone to tell me what’* wrong with it. If it is the ECM, they’ll charge $300-$400 for the part and another $150 for labor because it’* minimum 30 mins to do the relearn process. I think it’* clear none of you know what your doing. If y’all have an extra $1000 to throw away like that more power to you. I’m a single dad going through a brutal divorce in debt almost $14,000 and rising just in legal fees. And hours at work have been cut due to slow period. Even if I wasn’t in debt and was doing good, I would be dumber than a box of rock to spend that kind of money when there are websites just like these to help give idea so you don’t have to waste so much money by just bring it to a dealer. I will be unsubscribing this forum. Because y’all don’t know what you are doing you just on here being dicks instead of helping people. And if you thought that I just locked myself out of my truck by reading the title your a complete Moran. There’* no one that is that stupid to have to seek help on a forum to figure out that they’re lock out of the truck. Ever hear don’t judge a book by it’* cover? How about reading the issue of the titled thread before you sound like a jackass. This is the first forum I’ve come across that provides absolutely no help what so ever but instead just posts stupid comments that have nothing to do with figuring the issue out. I was able to order a programmed ECM with 2 day shipping for $142. If I’m wrong I can return it and try the very last option that I have discovered (BCM). Which is about the same price.

Goodbye
Loclih8th, please take a couple of deep breaths and read this when you are willing to actually read this.
It was a suggestion. You always have the option to take it or leave it. It appears your vehicle'* ignition lock cylinder cannot detect your key. We are on the far side of the Internet with knowledge and tools, but also on the far side of the Internet where we cannot use the tools on your vehicle. You have not advised that you have any of the necessary tools. There is no magic "fix" button hidden in an obscure place that we are refusing to tell you about. What options are left for us to recommend to you? If you have a $3,000.00 Tech 2 tool handy we could help walk you through it. Barring that, or a locksmith qualified to cut keys and program vehicles for them, it appears we have no other usable advice to give you.
I'm not so sure of this. We've helped a lot of folks out of a lot of tight spots.
I don't believe any of us do. Whatever else is happening in our worlds, we do this for free.
I'm sorry to hear of your circumstances. Unfortunately this doesn't change the nature of the issue nor the next steps needed. In the end, if you find a different solution that costs less and/or is easier we'd be interested to know what it is. We all learn while we're here too. You are also welcome to let it sit broken if that better fits your circumstances.
I'm sorry to hear this, but I understand as we're not getting you the answers that you need.
I take issue with this statement. There may have been some harsh statements from folks in this thread, but you have grouped all of our posts together with this statement. It appears you've forgotten posts 2, 4, 7, and 8 of this thread. At the time, you appeared to answer them in a way that tells me that you thought we knew what we were doing and that didn't appear you thought we were "being dicks".
You are welcome to correct our perception, however, most of us would prefer you do it in a kind manner.
I had to look this up. Moran: Irish: Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Móráin 'descendant of Mórán', a personal name meaning 'great', 'large'; the stress is normally on the first syllable. English: variant of Morant, normally pronounced with the stress on the second syllable.
I believe there are at least a few people in the world that would have to seek help from a forum to figure out they are locked out of a vehicle. From the tone of Post 11 it would appear that you think we function at nearly that level. There are also people that seek help on forums to figure out that there isn't an easy way past their locks without calling in a professional.
Yes, I believe I am safe in saying that all of us have heard sayings similar to this.
Have you forgotten Post 4? I believe that one was fairly accurate. I would love to know for sure just to know, and also because I have a friend with a 2007 Sierra 1500 that I often help him troubleshoot. As I mentioned above, you are welcome to correct our perception. I appreciate that we appear to be completely perfect from the outside, but read through some of the threads here and you'll find some places where the OP corrects us on our perception of their issue(*).
This is about the fiftieth post I've seen where several people, responding during their free time just because they want to help, attempt to assist, and the OP flips out and and lobs a bunch of personal insults because the free advice they are getting isn't what they would prefer to hear. Most of these are also rather wordy while also having references to us wasting their time. Almost all of them advise us of how terrible the advice is and that the folks supplying the advice don't know what they're doing. The [wasting time] part is always ironic to me on the really wordy ones. Thank you for not accusing us of this. Regarding how terrible we are, you can help us with this: Let us know what you did to resolve your issue and we can learn from that.
That having been said, I'm a senior member of some sort on several automotive forums and I can assure you that many comments that are less helpful than ours have been posted on many automotive forums out there.
This is a great example of an opportunity for us to learn from you. It has been my experience that if any electronic automobile part is opened, as in the box unsealed and/or the bag inside the box unsealed, that the part is no longer returnable. I have never found one otherwise, especially an ECM or BCM.
Can you tell us where you ordered this?
Is it new or used?
Do they give you all of your money back even though they went to the trouble of programming it?
Also, at $142.00, it appears they have great prices!
