Intermittent Power Windows Failure on 2004 Tahoe
Ok, on the main cluster the mirror adjust does not work, the window up/down disable/able does not work, the central door locking/unlocking does not work on the drivers door but works on all the others. And I have the same when I use the remote on my keychain. I can lock and unlock all the doors, set the alarm etc., but it will ignore the drivers door. I found that out when I thought everything was locked, the alarm was set and then I double checked the drivers door and it opened to my surprise. And of course the alarm went off. Tonight after it cools down a little I will see if I can remove the cluster and check the connector for corrosion or anything else that looks weird. The second possibility could definitely be a broken wire or wires in the harness between the door and body and on Monday I will go to the local salvage yard and spend a few bucks on a good looking control cluster for testing purposes before I dig into the harness. If the symptoms turn out to be the same then it'* got to be the harness, right???
Just hearing that the lock actuator doesn't work with the fob tells me that it is a wire in the harness (or elsewhere, but the harness is most likely) .
If it were just the actuator by itself or just the switch module by itself, I'd suspect either one of them respectively.

I am inclined to agree with that. It probably most likely is a malfunction in the harness. There are just too many things that stopped working on the main control cluster and that is very unlikely. I will do some testing on the harness and report back. Thanks!
I tried a simple harness test by operating the power window switch to the driver side window while at the same time swinging the door open and close repeatedly, squeezing the harness and jerking it around figuring that if there was a broken wire or wires in the harness they would momentarily touch by all that commotion and cause a reaction at the window, but nothing. Then I looked at a few How-To videos on how to remove the main power window switch control cluster and to my surprise it isn't as easy as I expected. Apparently, you can't just pop out the unit from the door panel but you have to actually remove the whole door panel to get to that cluster. Is that correct? I mean if I have to do it it'* not that problematic but I rather not if I don't have to.

If it wasn't for that, you might be able to do it without removing the panel.
Well wouldn't you know. Upon a closer look I thought that the cluster was kind of lose so I started to pull up on it and it popped up nicely from the door panel. And YES, I saw the hole where the screw is supposed to be but there wasn't any - lucky me. The previous owner of the car must have had the same idea and never put the screw back. I plugged and unplugged all the connectors several times and the windows started to work. Coincidence or a case of some corrosion on one of the connectors. I put the cluster back into the door panel and see what happens if it acts up again. I'll keep you posted
That'* cool!
Maybe something got spilled through there, then dust/corrosion/etc. built up on it enough to cause a problem, and you fixed it by re-plugging it a bunch . . . ?
Looking forward to your report back after some time has passed.

What usually happens is that the cluster gets rained on. Here in the south it gets hot and I leave the windows down to stop the inside from cooking and once in a while a surprise shower comes down faster than I realize and before I can get to the Tahoe it got a little wet already. But it'* still working today
