My son has a 2001 Malibu, 180,000 mi runs good but has internal coolant

leak. He doesn't have $600 right now to fix it but local mechanic told him to try

Blue Devil head gasket repair for a temporary fix.

I love to here from anyone has used this product or knows anything about it.

No. This will only cause more problems down the road. Should it find its way into the oiling system, only the devil would know what would happen.

Fix it right the first time.

On another note, I've been on this forum for quite some time and have only seen one or two instances of head gasket failure. 99% of the time, its your intake manifold gaskets that take a dump and coolant gets sucked into the cylinders, or the coolant goes into the crankcase.
How did the mechanic come to the diagnoses of it being the head gasket?

I think my son told him he had an internal leak, not sure exactly sure where and I think the mechanic just meant that the
"Devil" would fix it where ever it was.

Mike, seriously? Have made a living off of head gaskets on 3.1/3.4'*......and for some reason, it'* usually #1 cylinder......

Sure you are not thinking of 3800'*?

I blame IB for not making it mandatory for people to fill out signatures. Yea, you're right, I was thinking of the 3800 instead.

At least if all he did was the intake gaskets, then he'* halfway done.
