grinding noise gone. Problem was right front hub and bearing. I thought it was the differential because the noise sounded like it was on the left side, and I'd just replaced the hub and bearing on that side.
Anyway, lesson learned.
Anybody need a front differential? LOL.
Don't know whether I will sell it or return it.

That hub was only a year old? I would have leaned toward the diff.
