Front Differential Compatibility 2nd Generation Yukons
Concerning 2000 Yukon XL 1500 4WD and 2003 Yukon XL Denali AWD.
Hey guys, for some reason my researching skills are falling flat. My 2003 Denali just lost her front differential - which I knew was going to happen, and was able to bargain the owner down pretty well. Before I buy another to swap out, I do have my older 2000 XL that I’m parting out but still has its front differential- which is in pretty decent shape and low mileage. They look the same from my glances - even the passenger side cv axle length which I expected to actually be shorter or directly run from the differential Denali AWD (unless I have that backwards).
So the obvious question is - are they compatible?

I looked them up on Rockauto. They look significantly different. the front differential in the 2000 looks exactly the same as in like 1998, so probably earlier as well. Looks like they changed the design between 2000 and 2003.
