You are hearing it Cathedralcub, that’* when it clicked. I was doing about 65-70 mph on I-295. It is a camper van and this isn’t the only thing that rattles etc. But this is the only one that is clearly coming straight from the doghouse and the only one that happens only when my foot is on the gas.

It is a regular cargo van from the outside, but has a bed fridge, heater, stove, lights, and exhaust fan.

Stealth-ish van, nice!

Looks like you and one of the other vans in my post have the same roof vent:

If it were me, I'd do your same recording, slowly move the recorder around as it is making that noise and narrate as you go, then listen to the recording and see where the sound sounds louder in the recording:

- [start recording]
- "Starting by the driver door"
- Wait a minute
- "Moving to under the steering column"
- Move to under the steering column
- Wait a minute
- Moving over the accelerator pedal
- Move over the accelerator pedal

Etc. Etc. around the doghouse in increments and maybe circle back up along the mid-point of the dash. Don't forget to do under the driver'* seat.

Might have to do it a few times, but this would help get closer. To my ear, it doesn't sound like a sound from the engine or accessories, unless maybe it is a pulley bearing going bad somewhere.

I bet it sounds louder in person.

I’ll try recording it again as you suggested whenever it does it again.

it’* a bit louder in person, loud enough that I can usually hear it over the radio. I probably also wouldn’t have thought anything of it if it weren’t for the misfire problem too.

thank you all for the advice and help

I think I’ve figured it out. Driven a few thousand miles and the check engine light is still off. Turns out the clicking/ticking is coming from the seat. It’* right next to the engine cowel and I guess I miss located it. Anyway if I shake the seat sometimes with the van off it’ll make the noise.

thank you all for your help. On to the next problem which has something to do with brakes

Edward

Good job figuring that out!

Noises like that are hard to track down sometimes.

Thanks for letting us know what fixed it!
