Default after engine replacement

I just put a "new" engine in my 99 suburban. I had the transmission and transfer case rebuilt at the same time. The engine seems to run fine, shifts well, but now while I'm driving down the road, my car alarm will arm itself and of course go into alarm while I'm driving down the road. So far, no one has pulled over for me, so this is really not a benefit!

Someone told me that I have to reset the computer after an engine change, possibly due the the battery being disconnected for two weeks. Is this true? I don't have a service engine light ever since I took it to a repair shop and found out my distributor was off by a tooth.

Any advice?

doesnt sound like its factory look above drivers feet and see if there is a aftermarket alarm, if so grab the model number and see of there is a manual online to reset it.
