By the time your done spending money on the complete CUSTOM install, you could probably buy 2 cars with diesel engines. This is not going to be a simple drop and install. Custom bracket for the engine trans, custom engine harness, fuel lines, fuel pump, fuel tank, PCM/programming. $$$$ And then I would be surprised the engine would fit to begin with because of its apparent width issue. The engine bay is already cramped with the current V6.

I realize that diesel is cheaper, but I was trying to say is, once you are done spending all the money trying to put a diesel into your Jimmy, you could have bought a car with a diesel in it already. It'* a comparison cost I was giving you.

car engines are not good truck engines, they are efficient in a car because they are light and aerodynamic. and the engineers design the engine to work well in that application. you want one that will have torque in the low rpm range for your jimmy, thats opposite of any car engine. thats why i suggested the 5.3 v-8, they are cheap and plentiful, efficient for a truck, will bolt right to your trans, your current ecm can control both with a custom tune, the fuel lines and pump i believe are the same, etc.. and you will have the same or better mileage and about 50% more power

its not a diesel, its a gas engine from a 99-up silverado or sierra. as i said the diesel would be a 100 percent fab job on that because nothing gm made would bolt up to anything you have. you would have to take something completely different and fabricate completely engine, trans, t-case, tanks, pumps, lines, filters, controls, wiring, on and on

Justin, you do realize he lives in Africa right? I'm not sure what his chances are of finding a 5300 or a 5700 in his neck of the woods are.
