i've lost all gears in my tranny. i was accelerating off a stop sign and all of a sudden it'* like it switched into neutral. before this happened the tranny was making a knocking sound coming from around the bell housing area. also after accelerating off a stop sign and loading all gears the tranny was making a loud clanking. i can't manually shift into 1,2,3. i basically have park with six neutrals. i jacked it up and went through the inspection plate and didn't see any fractures on the flexplate and it was still connected to the torque converter. i turned the car on and both the flexplate and toque converter spun together. i have no clue what could be the problem. it'* also worth mentioning that before this i did drop the tranny and to replace the sunshell and it'* worked fine for six months until now.

With the engine off, check the oil level of the trans. Now start the engine and check the oil level again comparing it to what you seen before. If the level remains the same, something is wrong with the pump.

fluid levels are good i checked its not the pump. what'* next? i want to know everything i can check relating to my trannys symptoms before having to drop it.

If the oil level did not change AT ALL when the engine was off vs when the engine was running and the flexplate is still connected to the TCC, then its time to drop the trans.

the fluid level dropped a little after running the car. and if the flexplate is cracked wouldn't it still be bolted to the torque converter?
