Default 2025 2500H diesel truck starter running all the time

I bought a new 2025 2500HD High Country 4x4 Crew Cab. First I have not added anything to the truck. I Have owned it for 2 days and it shut down on me driving down the road. And had to be towed to the shop. All warning lights came on LOL. I'm being told that the starter would not stop running and that ran down the aux battery per the tech at chevy and the main fuse on the aux battery pn 84043745 had a "positive short". This p/n caused the problems. I'm lost. I'm being told the truck is ready. The starter is fine and it'* ready to go. Mind you the SM called me when he first got the truck and said they got the motor to start then it shut off after 30 sec but the starter still was running and it had filled the dealership full of smell from the starter getting hot. I'm being told that the main battery was sending the starter power and the circuit to send the starter a signal to engage the starter was from the aux fuse that had a "positive short" was the problem. Has any one every heard of this. I'm old school it sounds a little fishy to me. Back story I only had to buy the 2025 because they drove my 2023 with the lugs nut lose and the tire fell of the truck causing major damage.

No testimony of horrible grinding sounds etc. here, this is important.

. . . while you were driving?

Did you hear the starter running?

GM part number 84043745 is a fuse distribution box, not just a fuse. I guess yours was defective . . . ?

If the starter ran so long that it ran the battery down and filled the whole dealership full of the smell of getting hot, I'd tell them to put a starter on it as part of the repair. It'* not right for you to run around with a mostly burned-up starter on a brand new truck because they want to save a buck on doing the job right.

Also, did they do a thorough inspection of the flex-plate, especially the gear that the starter engages in? If it is torn up badly, it is only a matter of time before the truck leaves you stranded when the starter can't engage.

Sounds like a short in the fuse distribution box was improperly sending battery power to the starter. That makes sense. New non-defective fuse distribution box should fix that problem if we have the full picture.

Please tell me this was not done by the same dealer.

100% same dealership! And I did buy the truck from that dealership! And as for the question above about me hearing the starter spinning NO ... The starter was only spinning and not sending the gear out to start the engine. I had to send the owner a message on LinkedIn to get the truck replaced. If I cant get this resolved I'll send him a message again.

UPDATE!.....THEY REPLACE THE AUX BATTERY, STARTER & THE FUSILBE LINK ON MAIN BATTERY FUSE BLOCK...I have picked up the truck and I made it home. (10 miles) The dealership drove it around this time for 76 miles before returning it to me. I did notice the terminals on the aux battery are now white in color. Thinking that'* from the heat from getting hot when starter was running non stop. I have own the truck for 21 days and the dealership has had it for 18 days. Hoping this fixed the problem. Fingers crossed.

From everything that I know of the situation, I'd guess they found the problem in the fuse distribution box and fixed it. Glad to hear they replaced the starter and the related battery. I'd call it a new truck again!
