2011 Equinox Going Into Limp Mode
Hey gang,
I've got a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox that will go into limp mode after about 15 minutes of driving. The transmission will go into a default gear , the electric power steering is lost, A/C cuts off, Stabilitrak and any tell tale that can be illuminated on the IPC is displayed. The IPC gauges also all quit working. I've got a code reader and the main two codes that pull up are U0073 and U0100. With the tool that I have I am unable to get the symptom code which would tell me if it were either a High or Low Speed Com Bus problem. At times the scanner that I do have will fail to communicate with the BCM which is the first module in the chain on the COM line. Is there anything common that'll cause this in these vehicles? I no longer have GM SI access and cannot pull up PI'* or Bulletins in which to help out with this. Thanks for any help that you all can be, Joe

I will say that I've got a generic code reader and it won't read B codes so that'* why I didn't see any body codes. I miss having all of the "niceties" that I used to have in the dealer.

Gonna wake this thread up after a couple of years because I forgot to post what actually fixed this. It turned out that it was an internal fault in the Steering Control Module that was corrupting several communication busses. Fortunately, I've still got plenty of contacts/ friends in the GM Dealer realm from being a dealer tech for a couple of decades and they covered it under a Special Policy at no cost. Of course.....to replace the Steering Control Module (which is integrated with the steering assist motor) the entire steering gear has to be replaced. CP prices for that repair were in the neighborhood of $2200.00 . Crazy.
