Yeah, they have. An F250 axle starts out way too wide though. Too wide like it will look and act goofy and/or you'll need a wide rear axle as well. In the end you can fab all kinds of stuff.

Maybe. F250 has a wide frame too. I guess it comes down to how much frame you want showing.

I was just wondering about a way to get rid of that axle through the oil pan deal. I'd imagine the Ford axle would have to be shortened. That'* all I have on hand so my mind was running that way. Probably a smaller truck would be better. Mucho measuring and figuring.. Would like to see someones project that tackled the swap. Way too much on my plate to get serious about it, but keeping it in mind as I dive into disassembling the front end.

I had a worn out tire that kept going flat on the rear of the TB. I picked up a couple of decent used free P265/70R 17'* to be able to move it around in the driveway. I really like the looks of them. Now wondering what it would take to set up the front end for the same. I don't want to lift the front suspension too much and cause CV joint problems, but I sure like the look of it on the rear.

I would like to get a look at the team that designed the front drive-line on the TBs

May as well bite the bullet, fix it, and put it back together the way it was built. If you do it right you won't have to deal with it again for another 188,780 miles.

While we're here, it occurs to me that your no-compression cylinder might be a valve problem. Have you checked for that? It would sure be a lot easier to repair or replace the head than yank the engine.

They'd be all bloodied from the battle they had with the team that decided a long tall overhead-cam inline 6 is a good idea for a 4WD vehicle that needs to sit low.

True.. and I keep telling myself that!

It could very well be a valve. Then I got into weighing the work involved to get the head off... stripping the front end off for an engine that had 188,780 miles.. and a poorly maintained one. I wanted a reliable 4x4 that had some modern features, AND I didn't want to take the suspension apart to do another job on it down the road.. why?.. I found out later that the guy that was doing maintenance on it for my relative was using old oil for the oil changes. And not only this vehicle, but others he worked on. I think he was putting new oil in his vehicles and giving everybody else his old oil. I got a look at his craftsmanship on this TB. He is a weasel!

I'd pay to see that!

No idea. The picture was posted by someone saying ["here'* a pic of a rock crawler Chevy"] with no further information.
