What appears to be happening is that this all occurs when the tank is low. After I filled up the day I eventually limped to a gas station it has not reoccurred after putting 23 gallons into the 31 gallon tank. So far I am still above 3/4 tank. Talking to who I bought it from, it seemed to occur for them when it was under a half tank and suggested to never let if fall below a half tank. I used to own another suburban and it could get well over 400 miles a tank. This one I have to start looking to fill it up after 250 miles. The gauge last week read 1/4 of a tank which after putting 23 gallons into was about right. I thus think the gauge is working correctly.
