Default 1/2 ton for plow truck?

I got a 2000 z71 5.3 half ton and was wondering if that'd be any good as a plow truck? I was hoping if I take it easy I won't bang up the truck too bad and then could make a few bucks doing neighbors/friends driveways, the other issue from it being a halfton is its my first car/Truck and my daily driver, would this be a good idea?

I've seen *-10'* with plows on them. Get a plastic plow if you can. It will save on weight.
