Dlongpine is on a distinguished road
Default 06 Silverado

I have an 06 Silverado classic 4x4 z71 5.3 with 143xxx miles.

The gas gauge reads wrong. So full is full and just above a 1/4 of a tank is empty. I have read multiple reviews of fauilty fuel pumps, but nothing like this.
It works just fine but reads wrong when the tank is empty. Is this a gauge problem or a sending unit problem?

Sending units can develop bad spots. Only way to test it would be to drop the tank and pull it out and test it. Or take a known good one, plug it it into your harness and move the float while watching the fuel gauge.

Agree with Mike......it'* the level sensor.....not the fuel pump...unfortunately, the level sensor is attached to the fuel pump module....so the tank has to be dropped and the the fuel pump module removed....then the sending unit removed from module and replaced....the float in the picture is attached to the the level sensor.....
