Have an 03 silverado with 5.3L when starting the the engine would just turn over . Check to see if fuel pressure regulator was losing prime by turning key to on position then off a couple time engine starts right up . Changed the fuel pressuer regulator sometimes u still have top turn key to on postion but only one time before it starts up . Anything else i can check , been told may be the fuel pump

when the pump goes out some times it doesnt make as much pressure, normally if its a filter it will start but the pressure will be low especially if you get on the gas

Could be the fuel pump but I would get the fuel pressure checked before throwing money at the problem.
