The owner said he "put too much oil" in it and it started to develop a "knock"....hmm
"it still drives, but I would not leave town with it"
This would likely mean he spun a bearing correct?

Well thats what I said, but he said "no" lol. However it would make sense, that if the upper failed, water seeped into the bearings and it would appear he put too much oil in.
