Now that I think about it, I remember seeing your car'* dash about a year ago. Did you have this done back then?

It was done over a year ago. Two months or so after I got it IIRC. I did it initially because I wanted a blackened-out dash panel, and this fit the bill perfectly. Now, it'* the ONLY thing black in the dash, so I dunno....I like it, but I may find something else to put there.

Surprised nobody has asked what I used for the stereo and meter mounts yet.

You could paint the faceplate. Are you going for a two-tone now?

I guess it'* more of a subtle two-tone look now, instead of the previous scheme. Jinx is starting to become more refined, so the interior treatment should match. Hence the reason why I shied away from using gage pods in the pillars. I want NOTHING to be seen unless you really look for it.

Now I gotta find a new use for the spot where the ciggy lighter used to be. It USED to be spot where I put my radiator fan overide, but now that I have a programable PCM, I lowered my fan on-off temps, so the overide is no longer needed.

I'm really glad to see that Jinx is coming along some more now. I remember you were thinking of getting rid of her! No way! Good of you to have made the right decision.

I vote putting into that place a wideband O2 sensor.

Putting something there for WB use will take some creativity. Reading voltage is one thing, but milivolt readings can change dramatically and quickly. I'm a fairly simple man, and I can really be distracted by quickly changing numbers.

So, if I put a WB, or even a narrowband indicator there, it will be highly simplified. Really, I only need to be concerned with three ranges...stoich, rich, and lean. So I really only need three different LED colors to tell me what'* what.

Very good point about the LED colors. With the volt reader, you're probably not too concerned about keeping it stock. You could just do an early 90s VW imitation and set up a row of LEDs to show various things.

So, which ideas for that spot do you have? A trans temp gauge? Would you want to do something really weird and get a coolant pressure gauge? It would be hilarious!

Nah. Better idea.

Ripping out the compass display. In it'* place will go the wideband O2 and switchable IAT / aftercharger temp display. Compass duties will be handled by one of the rearview mirror units I have in stock.

Either that, or I rip apart an Aeroforce gage and place it behind the gelcell of the compass cavity. But that would be a mighty 'spensive mistake if I **** it.

Please do that. That is such a better idea. I need to see that! I use my compass so much that when driving the SLE or any other car, I look over and see some random dashboard part. It'* disappointing. If you can readjust to use the rear view mirror instead, which I suppose is safer anyway, then absolutely go for it!
