Who Said A 4T65-E HD Isn't Tough?
Today we had about 5 inches of snow and I had to deliver some concrete to my friends house. 105 lbs bags a peice. So I wasn't ready to walk up their 200 ft long driveway with 2 of them. I knew that w/ out the TC working it would be tough. So I got a running start trying hard not to spin the tires on the way up. But by half way they started spinning and I losed momentum. The car stoped moving forward so to try to get it moving again spun the tires to about 65mph. It wasn't gonna hapen and the second I let off it started backing down the driveway FAST while still in drive. I put it in neutral and got back down the driveway and proceded to get another running start. Same results. So then I dropped it in 1 and made it 3/4 up the driveway the first time and made it up the second time. Oh yea this was with about 900 lbs of stuff in the car and trunk.
So yea... I NEED a winter beater. Poor car. She puts down 210 whp in stock form and this is how I treat her. I should be ashaimed.

is it a traction issue or a clearance issue????
my dad who lives in wyoming has a winter beater (86 olds 98 3. with the top level blizzaks and HOLY SH** i never thought any car could do so well. (He drives to jackson hole on a daily basis and they get several feet a snow some nights where he is at)
It does have about 2" more clearance than my car and H-bodies from the 90'* so that does help but I had Newer goodyear all seasons and my abs went on very quick. ON his you could slam on the brakes and it would slide but it did take a lot of effort. It was quite strange to say the least as I had no idea it made THAT much of a difference on ice/packed snow.
In 7" of snow you punch it and it actually goes with little to no problem. my car would just spin.
so the moral of the story is no matter how good all seaons get, it will never match blizzaks or the other similar tires out there.
So I say get a $500 3.8 and get a set of blizzaks or comparable tire and you would be set, that is assuming you dont get a lot of snow often.
