Mine has a small patch on the underside by the latch also.

Grimm, do you remember who had the problem? I don't remember this problem, as it doesnt seem to affect Auroras as much as it does Bonnevilles....at least it doesnt seem to be a reoccuring complaint amongst 2nd gen owners out there.

I've seen all vehicles of our body style with this problem, whether it be either generation Aurora, Riviera, Bonneville, Lesabre, Park Ave, etc. My Aurora has it starting on the underside of the hood near the latch like some others here have, so does the SSEi. The 2000 SLE has already been repainted though.

The person with the Riviera with all the paint gone on the front of the hood was me BTW. It cost me closer to $600 to get it repainted though.

I have the bubbles in 3 spots at the tip of the hood. Its a slow process but i could tell you where it was when i bought it and how far it has grown in the last two years. Its one of my things to do list, i just dont want to pay a boat load.

No I don't Jim. But I'm pretty certain that is where I found out about it. As I said, I looked at an '03 Aurora that I was close to buying before I found my Bonneville that had a small bubble on the hood. I thought it could be rust, but then found out about the issue with the aluminum hood and the primer not bonding correctly. At the time I really wasn't considering a Bonneville, so I'm pretty sure I hadn't even found this site yet.

Interesting stuff, I have an aluminum hood as well, not something I've noticed on my car in particular, but worth keepin an eye out, esp as I cross the 200 000km mark.

My 97 Aurora is clean and green, no bubbling. I didn't think the aluminum hood/primer was a problem at all on the first gen Aurora'*........

Mine has it. Instead of paying $400-500 to fix it I hid it with a $65 bra!

Only I know it'* there........unless they read posts on this site!!!
