what is rubbing? like the wheels

Rubbing is racing.

what is rubbing? what do wheels do when they rub. is it bad? does it affect performance or is it just annoying?

it will wear down the tires and possibly have a blow out.

will it occur if i purchase 255/45s and lower my car an inch?

noone has ever lowered a 00+ except GXP Venom, and he is on bags.

I know for sure PontiacDad has 255'* on his 2000 SSEi, and IIRC so does SilverBullet. They aren't lowered but they don't have any rubbing issues. I also have 255'* and there is no rubbing, but then again I have a G-body.

255'* on 92-99'* will rub unless you modify the wheel well.

In my opinion, go with a narrower tire if you plan to lower the car.

I have 235s and I rub, so 255s would be a bit too close for comfort.
