I came across a bonneville that has a V8 engine. I called to see if it was really true. The sales man said yes, it does have a V8. Did they make any SSEi Bonnevilles in 97 with a V8?

i had a GM pontiac Tech say that the SLE and SSE never had an option for a SC

only the GXP models have a V8 ('04-'05). And older bonnevilles like from the 60s-70s.

No there isnt a stock model V8 for a '97.

No. The V-8 came in the GXP starting in '04

People get confused all the time. Salesmen often will tell you whatever they think you want to hear, as many people don't even know what they're looking at when they look in an engine bay.

I helped a good family friend sell her '85 Olds Cutlass Cierra this month. As I was asking for info over the phone to help I asked if she had the 4 or 6 in there. She insisted that it was a V8 because she wouldn't buy anything other than a V8 and the salesman had told her (back in '85) that it was a V8, lol. I didn't push the issue, just went over there to verify the V6 and condition.

Yeah I had a dealer tell me my 95 Continental was rwd when it was obviously fwd.

I wouldn't let salesman ignorance keep me from buying a car if the car was what I wanted and the price was right. If *you* verify that the vehicle is what you want and *you* verify the condition of the vehicle and *you* verify the price is right, who cares if the salesman doesn't know a car from a box of rocks?

Idiot car salesmen are a dime a dozen. If you know what you're doing when you buy a car, you can pretty much do it all without any interruption from an idiot salesman. I pretty much ignore everything the salesmen say anyway, as they only have their own interests in mind, not mine. Look out for YOURSELF, and just ignore stupid salesmen.
