That'* just a generic price which is about average. You probably could get it from GMPD for less, but with shipping it might come close to that.

I just bought a brand new one from Ed Morad 2 days ago for $125 shipped , but that was for a 3800 motor. There are always junk yards...or maybe you could get lucky and find someone to rebuild it. When I checked at GM for mine there were a variety a parts available seperately for the compressor.

Is this the mag clutch on the A/C compressor we're talking about? I'm not completely sure, but there may be an air gap adjustment on the friction plates that needs adjust. This may resolve your problem, maybe not.
