Default voltage readings

ok on normal days, even on cold start the voltage reads right at 12. but on cold days like says in the 40'* when i start it in the morning it reads like 14. im not concerned, but inquring minds want to know why.

well maybe the normal reading is 13. you cant tell exactly.but it seems to be runnin fine and everything.even at night with headlights on and whatnot. i mean i have the headlights,AC,radio, and pretty much all other electrical stuff running, including running my cd player from the 12 volt.and it doesnt even phase it. i just wondered why it seemed to run higher when it was cold.
