I have a foot of snow in my driveway and I have found that to get out better, I have to shut off the traction control. I have good snow tires on the front and I find as soon as I take the traction control off I can get a little tire velocity (which you need sometimes) and get some momentum going.

Yup, I noticed that sometimes its better to disable the traction control too....but usually leave it on.
BTW, the traction control LED in the button is supposed to be on all the time right? Unless you disable it, then it turns off and the "Traction Off" light comes on in the gauges....

And yes... the button is lit if it'* ON... and when you disable it you get the bright yellow "Traction Off" on the dash....
The traction control on my 98 SSEI is annoying when it kicks in even after it is turned off. Like at the strip when I try to heat up the slicks and get a burnout going and it kicks in and that'* the end of that. I think if I pull the ABS fuse that may help, We will have to see when I get to the track
