Default Body Ground Unit

After 3 weeks of numerous repairs to my car the mechanic said my car had to go to the dealership for the body ground unit. How much do you think this will run??? They quoted about $400 to start but wasn't sure.

Let'* have some specifics for what parts he'* talking about. All the body panels (lower parts) are very easy to install. Or is he just needing a source to replace some of them?

Bill- it is some type of modual that they think is mounted in the drivers door or passenger front fender that works with the security system. It is keeping the car from starting. The mechanic said he is 100% sure but will the dealership confirm it before they try to fix it???? Apparently someone had tried to steal the car before I got it and that is how they found out about the ignition wires have been cut and spliced and all the wires that come out of the bottom of the steering column.

If every wire that goes into the steering column has been cut and spliced, I would expect it to be a swapped column.
