Its time for new tires. Since I have been having bad luck with the RSAs (balance, wear & snow traction). I want to try another brand tire.

Anyone have suggestions for an alternative to the RSAs ?

ive been running Yokohama Avis V4S for the last couple months and love em, they are 10x better than the RSAs, but IMO the RSAs are garbage anyway

i have had good success with the GoodYear Triple tread Assurance....great traction, awesome tread pattern, 2 ply sidewall, and the tread life is good for a mild performance tire... Tire Rack had them rated #1(things may have changed since) when i purchased mine for passenger car tires

i know others have the BF Goodrich Traction T/A and reported good results

Pirelli PNero Zero'* are also a good performance tire as well

Interesting opinion on the RSA'*. Could the newly manufactured ones be better now? I ask because I've had no problem with the tires on my car. I had the fronts replaced by the dealer when I got the car because they were a bit too worn, but the car had over 40K miles and I'm sure the tread would have been good for another couple years. I haven't had any handling or vibration issues. I've seen no odd wear so far, and they seem to handle great in the snow/ice which we've had plenty of the last couple weeks.

please if you have the 17" rim'* take a look at 255/50-17 size tires
same diameter as the stock 235/55-17 but are wider and make the
car look and handle so much better. alot of us have gone to the 255'*
(i have 38,000 on mine) and i have not read any bad posts about the 255,*.
GM should have offered the 255'* as a option.

Now see what is available in your type and size. Tire rack doesn't carry all brands so look at other places too.

Now you can start to narrow down your choices.

I just got some Bridgestone Potenza G009'*.

Great price. Great bang for the buck.

They have been great to me in all forms of weather so far. And the dry traction is nice when you want to have some fun.

I have the 255/50-17 Kuhmo ASX'* on my SSEi. I just battled home in 4 inches of snow tonight. The first good snow I've had them in. A real test. Those suckers are phenominal. She felt very controlled on the interstate (slick as snot on a doorknob). I think some dude in a 4-wh drive ut must have been surprised when I kept up with him.

I rolled up my steep drive like I had tank treads. Never done that with any tire except PZero'* before. We have ASX'* on the GAGT too (but stock size there). Same experience. Wear is fantastic, at least at 15K miles so far. Wet and dry is up to my expectations. They're quiet and bite like spikes around curves. The SSEi suspension doesn't hurt either.

Someone on this thread said their RSA'* had good snow traction. In my experience I've never been in any RSA-equipped Bonne that had good snow traction. Politely I say that fella should try a good 4-season Super High Perf tire like the ASX and THEN report back about the comparison with his RSA'*.

FYI- I funned around in a large parking lot trying out the Stabilitrac. I could not get the sucker to stay in an out-of-shape condition for too long. The Stabilitrac straightened her out real quick. The ABS would kick in and some ghost would grab the steering wheel from me and "righten the rudder" real spooky like. Somebody did their homework on that system. Peace..................

Yep, I have RSAs and the traction is just fine. We've been dumped on this week with lots of snow that has packed to ice. And I drive highway to work with absolutely no problems. Now I'm not going to go racing 75 along the ice like some of the morons in four wheel drives I see pass by, but I've had no trouble doing 60 on slick roads.

But that'* not to say I'm a huge fan of the tires. That'* just what it came with. And after having to pay $180 (and that'* after haggling a bit) for one tire, I will be looking for other options the next time I need them replaced.
