Problem is I need 17 inch tires. Hard size to find good rubber for.

You could use 16" rims grasshopper . If you use a 225/60/16 your speedo would read 2% fast (58.8 mph would read as 60mph) - I think this is acceptable. You could use steel rims from a 2001+ Impala as they have the 12" brakes like you do, I had these on my GP with 12" too.

If you spec out your car on Tirerack they offer you 2 16" choices - 225/60/16 and 215/60/16.

You'll be fine on 16" snows, the speedo difference is nothing to worry about and the rims will clear your brakes.

I have 2 sets of 17"inch rims (chrome, aluminum) and a pair of 16" for the drag rads. Kendra will kill me if I buy another set of rims to stick in the garage

LOL, well I feel for you on that one...I have 2 sets of rims and tires for each of my vehicles.

Maybe you should sell a set of 17" rims and put the money towards snows. It will lower the overall cost, save on space and you'll save on mounting and balancing each year not to mention having many more choices of tires in 16".

I just my winter tires..... they are made by the same people that designed the Nokian tires. I guess a group of their best engineers left Nokian and started their own company. I forget exactly what the name is, but I'll check when I go out to the car today. I do know the PN/Model for the tires was 59A336... I got the 15in tires for my steel wheels.

They cost me $400Cdn.... and everyone says they are just as good as Nokian.

I've been out driving on mainly ice, and they seem pretty good. I haven't had a chance to test snow/slush yet.

I am at an interesting time in my life. I have finally acquired, what I think for me is the perfect blend of vehicles, the Bonne for family excursions (keeping the wife happy cause officially it'* hers ) and sleeper rice kills, the Firebird for muscular fun and the fountain of my youth, and the 4WD Jeep for backroad fun, and all weather driveability. But now my children are teenagers and wanting to take one...or two of them from me. What to do. What to do.
The thought of buying a "Ricer" has crossed my mind.....my son likes the Evo....but I have no desire to support another country'* economy.

I may give up the '88 Jeep after 17 years and buy another all weather vehicle. Any suggestions :?: Don't answer. It'* a topic for another thread.
