Are there any weak spots on the 97 Auroras?

The Aurora doesn't have the same problems as the STS, right? Some of the other guys have said it doesn't, but I'm not so sure now...

I have never read anything about the 4.0L N* having any of the problems that the 4.6L N* has had.

preventitive maintence, cooling system flush, colder Tstat...say 180 drilled, might help preserve the 4.6, i hate giving up on my dream car too!

My father is a worrier about all things mechanical and has always done cooling system flushes every 2 years or 25k miles and that wasn't enough to keep the first 4.6L from leaking internally. But like I said, they might have just got 2 of the bad ones. I'm not making it out like every 4.6L is going to blow up after 50k, but you shouldn't have to change the coolant that often or put in a lower degree t-stat just to get the engine to survive past 50k miles.

Again, this is just my experiences with 3 4.6L N* and should not be reflected upon as gospel. I just know that no one in my family will be buying a N* powered car again for a very long time. My dad is actually pretty interested in my BVille!

I hear ya, matt. I'll do an engine drop if I have to, I love those STSs that much :(

Oh, and they call the Aurora 4.0L the "Shortstar", lol :P

Oh, and screw the newer, 2000+ ones, they look like ***. Too rounded and tired looking. The early to late 90'* body style was the best, by FAR, IMO. Very angular. I like that

I LOVE THE NEW STS!!! Although I don't think I'd ever get one, they just look BAD-A$$!

VVT engine, All-wheel drive, adaptive cruise control, magnetic ride control, etc. The list goes on and on. It'* one hell of a car, but equiped the way I would want it it'* close to $70,000 and way out of my price range!

I still think I would rather have my '01 SSEi over the new and fully decked out STS just because of the ease of getting more power out of the L67 and the fact that I am a tinkerer of all things! I can't keep my hands off of anything that I drive for too long. Something always needs to be tweaked or smoothed out. But that'* just me. If I had $70k sitting around, I think I would get another 2k+ SSEi and have one to mod to the hills with the extra money that would be left over.

Well, yea, the NEW STS is awesome. I was referring to the latest (and last) Seville body styling, both the SLS and STS variants thereof. Those are the ones I think look gay. No, but that new STS is great, man I'd love one too but, alas, money doesn't grow on trees for me, either...

Oh well

I guess the vets are kind of tired of this topic. I wonder why

Maybe it was the 5-page post on a similar subject...
