Not for long if you do that. These tranny'* do not like burn outs at all.

My tranny that came with my car when I got it was in Identical shape as SSEi95'*. So I have experienced this too from too many burn outs. Unless you got money for tranny'* and installs....I'd recomend not doing them

Just to clarify......mine was not due to burnouts. It'* a bit more complicated, but both Gordy and I had ALOT of good miles before they went.

Burnouts themselves do NOT blow trannies. The burnout itself prevents damage if you think about it. Burnouts with SIPED TIRES are another story, but it still didn't let go until after many good miles of hard abuse. Moving to General Chat.

Bill, would an engine/tranny with 48K miles, driven for about a year and 14,000 more miles, many times, I mean MANY times of hard accleration on the highway mostly (no burnouts), shifting at 5500rpms orange-redline, constantly, beat the crap out of transmission slowly? Because that basically describes my driving for the past 10 months, if you didn't get where I was going

I'm going easier on it now because I don't want to strain it, but since my tranny is rated for like 225-230 lb/ft and I only have 190ish, I should be ok even though I accelerate hard and it shifts very high....right? I mean, I don't really have any signs of a bad tranny, and I just got it flushed for preventitive measures...but I'm just asking for your opinion, or anyone elses too Thanks

Pete, it'* the low-end torque that really beats the snot out of the transmissions.

If you MOVED your torque curve lower, but kept the peak numbers the same, you'd beat it up worse. Yes, you're wearing it out, but not nearly at the rate a stock supercharged car would with off-the-line jumps.

I suppose part of it is the one wheel peels. The trans that was grenaded in my car when I got it only had 19K on a fresh rebuilt. This kid peg-legged the poor car EVERYWHERE and ANYTIME.....That'* actually what he was doing when it fragged.

Just to clarify further. ONE WHEEL burnouts are very bad for your car. Typically these happen on turns where the differential is differentiating the power and you accelerate hard enough to break a tire loose. Also if at the track and you do a burnout and only one wheel is turning can be very detrimental to your dif. It'* always good to have a spotter at the track who can wave you off a one wheel burnout but unfortunately you don't have a spotter on the street.

An LSD will help combat this problem by proportioning power more evenly helping to prevent one wheel burnouts as well as help with torque steer.
