Talk me OUT of a GXP!!!
I guarantee you'll kick yourself for getting rid of the TA if you trade it in. I vote hanging on to it. And if you're gonna be makin' good power, swap a turbo 350 in it with a gear vendors overdrive.
Don't get rid of the TA. I ditched mine for an 05 Bonneville. It was fun at first, but I'm becoming extremely bored with it. Bored enough that I'm going to look at a couple GTO'* this weekend.
I also killed my tranny in the TA. 3-4 pack was toast, and the rear-end was humming like nobodies business. Even with all the problems, I still regret it :(
I promised myself that I won't mod the GTO if I get it.
We'll see how that works out.

I'll probably end up keeping it, after I get it back on the road it should haul major azz, and it should snap me out of wanting to trade it off.

I hope you do decide to. Don't get suckered like me.

And I am hoping my next car will be a CTS-V, I just need them to depreciate for a few more years.

The CTS also has a 5 speed transmission with its first few gears closely spaced so acceleration is very confident at lower speeds. The VVT to boot alone makes the CTS more "spiritied" in comparison. I say definitely check one out and compare it to the GXP. I don't think you'll be disappointed. You get what you pay for.. Keep in mind too, that with just $200 of a bolt-on mod, you can get that 3.6 VVT V6 up to 270 horsepower easily. (volant air intake)
The CTS is a very nice car. I wanted one... until I drove one. No offense man but the ones I drove lacked power. I drove two '07'*, one with the smaller engine and one with the largest(that isn't CTSV), and also a friend'* '04. The '04 and smaller engine '07 were bad pooches. They pepped right off the line but dogged out quick, very quick. The larger engine '07 was a little better but still a pooch IMO. I also was not a fan of the interior, felt cheap to me. Crazyjoe, keep that TA!

That'* odd. I don't think I've heard anyone describe a 3.6 CTS as "doggy."
I've never driven a lower mileage one so maybe they take a few thousand miles to 'loosen' up. Stock to stock, my CTS absolutely annihilates my mom'* 2000 SSEi in all driving situations. Otherwise, I don't know what to tell you because mine moves just fine at higher speeds. It pulls hard all the way up until the limiter.
