I've got the center-console flip out cupholder on my 98, and it works great. I use it all the time for water bottles, which it holds no problem. Is this the style everyone it having problems with?

Yes I believe so. Most of them are already gone.

My 97 worked perfect - I used it everyday for seven years. I agree however, I did not like the design...

well my bonne has gone through 2 cup holders and tab thingys that hold the lid down and when i replaced them recently they had a new design that makes the center consol lock nicely and a cupholder that is sturdy and is removable it is definatly more strong and i doubt that you would break it unless you really tried to (with a hammer). yah it is a great improvement but it was a little expensive but well worth it cuz i had my lid for the consol held on by velcro.

I have the same improved cupholder......mine was broken when I bought the car. The new cupholder itself (my latch assembly was fine) was only 21 bucks at the dealer. MUCH beefier. I don't use it much since I have the aftermarket cupholders (big gulp size) on each side of the center console now. But occasionally, I still use it. I even use it to hold my GPS or FRS from time to time.

It doesn't LOOK any different. It'* a more flexible material that isn't as breakable/brittle. Still want a pic?
