The replacement part from GM is greatly improved. I don't think you could break it if you tried. It'* also easily removed if you want to, without tools.

Want to see mine when i come back into town I'll pull it off for you.

And for the record, my car was the only one I looked at last summer, that had both a good cupholder/lid, and an easy glove box.

My cup holder is still good. :P
But I rarely use it since I rest my arm there a lot.

when i bought my car i don't think the cupholder was even there. if it was, it was broken and i tossed it out.

i put my coffee mug in the door anyways........like smellbird said.........armrest = center console!

LOL funny you should say that haro! My cupholder is sitting on my desk right beside my keyboard right now. It finally fell off wednesday after a couple weeks of trying to hang on. Which is fine with me cause i hated it.....i allow no drinks in my car.

My 91 has the cup holder under the armrest. It isn't very deep though. It will fit a can pretty good but if you get a drink from a fast food place it will tip the first turn you make. I wish I had the holders in the doors but I have speakers there.

The newer gens have a crappy cup holder placement as well. I need a second elbow to reach it and the holes are so close together that you cant store 2 coffee'* in it
