Default Storm Chasers

As it starts to thunderstorm and hail all of a sudden...

I decide to be an idiot and get a picture while its hailing. I sacraficed being hit with quarter size hail for this? Anyways it got me thinking about this upcoming summer and spring for that matter, is anyone here a storm spotter or chaser? I will usually take a 6 pack (coke) one day and just listen to the weather radio for anything that may pop up. Otherwise I just cruise the back roads and chill at various lakes and parks. Most of the time it is boring but once in a while you can get a real good adrenaline rush!!

I am such a coward about tornadoes so I don't try to go looking for them and I sure hope they never find me! I've been through a few but not on purpose. I like watching what the brave stormchasers video so I can experience it from the safety of my livingroom.

PS. Clicking your heels and saying there is no place like home DOESN'T work. That'* Hollywood for ya.

I have been a storm chaser, registered with the NWS (Nat'l Weather Svc) and such. We don't get a lot of tornadic activity up here in the Northeast, but I did get nailed with a F0 (weak tornado) in '98. It was about a half mile away and it was NIGHT, so I wasn't able to even see the thing. Scary stuff. That was enough for me....that and the ride home with all the trees blocking the roads

I got caught in straight-line winds in my toyota pickup and I was so scared!!! Luckily I was close to my work and managed to avoid all of the flying debris and didn't get blown over. The funny thing was that when I got out to run to my office I actually took the time to lock the door on the truck. There was massive amounts of damage done all the way from Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS to Columbus, MS along I-82 about 15 - 20 miles.
