Default Static shocks make my car chime

I have an aftermarket head unit which I installed. I also have an iPhone 3G dock connected to both the head unit'* line input and (temporarily) into a lighter->USB power adapter.

I put my hand near the metal contact on the dock when getting into the car and gave it a static shock. That made my BCM chime three times, like it does when "Check Gages" turns on.

I highly doubt it caused any permanent damage, since everything seems to be working fine. Anyone else have experience with static-induced chimes?

Static can do funny things. Might want to check the grounds.
