That has more to do with your battery and starter than anything. Very little to do with the motor type or generation.

i just bump mine to the start position for a second and she starts..my 93 was pretty good for that as well

S1 and S2..

Honestly.. I couldn't tell any difference. They both are quick.

That is simply a function of the age and condition of the starter and battery in each car, nothing to do whatsoever with what series the engines are.

Back on topic.....

As jr's3800 and I have pointed out, there are MAJOR differences between the Series1 and Series2 in both mechanical design and operation, as well as noise-abatement attempts and technology. Most modern cars are carefully designed to not make noise, but computer controls and idle characteristics are modified to meet modern EPA pollution standards, so cold idle in order to warm the car up quickly for emissions purposes will sound very different.
