What was interesting though...in that cold (not sure if it was a factor or not), in O/D the car went to 181 km/h and was still going?!? Fast enough for me, but why would the limiter cut in at a slower speed in third while still plenty below the red? Odd...
That'* GM for ya.
Yes 3rd gear has a limiter to 108 mph and OD 4th is limited to 128 mph.
They do it to protect the engine from overheating at sustained speeds over 4000 rpm.

A new performance computer will solve that.

Still not as fast as Jim...

You never know who will be on the QEW late one night! Might have to kick his white car a** one day!

This is all you need, for $300, and you can kick Jims ***.
Without the limiter, you should be able to do 145 mph or better.

Haha, you people with governors. That must suck. My STE doesn't have a Governor. It will go until the end of OD, but it will just be really horrible on the tranny to accelerate in OD. Supposedly the top of 3rd gear is coincidently 128mph, so I can hit the SSEi governor in 3rd and then let off so it shifts into OD (it won't shift into OD at WOT, it will just set there and bang the limiter all day long), but then once it shifts into OD, I can just lay it to the floor again and off I will go killing my 4th gear and seeing 145+mph.

I do know that the 3rd gear governor in the SSEi has pissed me off once or twice while doing some autotap logs.

Are you telling us that your 2000 SSEi doesn't have a limiter in OD.

No, I think he is saying that his STE can do in third what the SSEi has for an OD govenor.

i recall a thread somewhere else on here where others claimed that the Bonne only has a limiter in third, but that was different than the limiter in O/D...

Are the SSEi'* different than the others?
