I put mine in the door. My mom put hers on the trunk one time and forgot to put it back on the car. We had to get a new cap.

ahahaa when I was a kid we were passing thru oregon on the way to seattle and my dad got out to pump the gas, the clerk almost jumped on him like he was stealing it or something. lol

mine goes on its own discolored paint spot on the trunk because the 87-91 hook thingie is very poorly designed and dosent sit well in it and theres no clearance so the pump kicks it out of the hook.
