A member I was hanging out with yesterday took his gas cap off and put it on the trunk of the car. (Having just sold him a car in great shape, seeing anything put on the paint bothered me.)

I showed him where it belongs when filling up. Never scratches the paint on the trunk this way.

actually... for those who live in a state that doesn't have the automatic fill slots on the pump handle (ie NY) you can place the gas cap in the handle of the nozzle and it will pump properly and shut off when full just like the if the little slot was there.

In Oregon, we don't pump our own gas. I typically get out and remove my own cap anyway, just so I have control of where it goes.

Mine'* on a piece of plastic that is attached to the cap area, so I just let it dangle. Am I the only one?
